Zacks.com featured highlights include: Hilltop, Mr. Cooper, Universal Forest Products, Newell Brands and Changyou.com

Chicago, IL – December 3, 2019 – Stocks in this week’s article are Hilltop Holdings Inc. HTH, Mr. Cooper Group Inc. COOP, Universal Forest Products, Inc. UFPI, Newell Brands Inc. NWL and Changyou.com Ltd. CYOU. Value investors are generally fixated on the price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple while seeking stocks that are trading at a bargain. P/E, without a shadow of doubt, is the most popular multiple used by investors to evaluate the fair market value of a stock. But even this widely-popular valuation metric is not without its pitfalls. While P/E is preferred by many investors while uncovering value stocks, another valuation metric called EV/EBITDA does a better job. The ratio is sometimes viewed as a superior substitute as it offers a clearer picture of a firm’s valuation and its earnings potential. EV/EBITDA has a more comprehensive approach to valuation as it determines a firm’s total value. In contrast, P/E just considers the equity portion of a firm. Also dubbed as the enterprise multiple, EV/EBITDA is essentially the enterprise value (EV) of a stock divided by its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). EV is the sum of a company’s mark...

How to use the Shop feature on Instagram to buy products

If you are a frequent Instagram user, chances are you may have noticed some posts in your feed with a small shopping bag icon, tucked in the lower left-hand corner.  This is Instagram’s Shop feature, which includes products offered by hundreds of brands and retailers across the world — and it’s a wise investment from the social media platform.   Analysts told Business Insider that Instagram’s move to shopping will be so successful that it will generate $10 billion in revenue by 2021. Using the Shop feature is easy, too. Any post with a shopping bag icon has a product or products linked to it — just tap on the product name, and you’re taken to the description page where you can save it for later, or buy it now.  Some products are available to purchase without even leaving the app, while others take you to the retailer’s website to finalize the transaction.  Some retailers partner with Instagram to provide a check-out process within the app. Most of those retailers are featured on Instagram’s @shop account.  Instagram’s @shop account features many retailers that have items available for purchase on the app. Meira Gebel/Business Insider 2....

New TV show asks: Do you love meat enough to cook your pet?

Not only will a family of unrepentant carnivores have to let an animal they have adopted and grown to love go for slaughter if they refuse to stop eating meat – they will be asked to cook and eat it. With experts saying that we have to eat less meat to stave off climate change, Channel 4 has made the dilemma stomach-churningly stark. Four heavy meat-eating families have to take home and look after the “animal which ends up most often on their plates”. Analyst Virginia Mouseler called the show “the most transgressive” of the year at MIPCOM, the world’s biggest entertainment market in Cannes, France. “It is not sex or drugs anymore. Meat is becoming the next taboo,” the influential founder of The Wit database added. “The question they are asking is how can you cuddle your dog while you are putting another animal in the oven?” “Then, in the end, they have to decide whether they put it in the oven” or whether it goes to an animal sanctuary. Channel 4 said the three-hour-long shows will confront “the reality of an animal’s journey from field to plate”. They said the show also seriously examines ...

Replacing your old thermostat with something digital (that doesn’t look like an LED clock from the ’80s) shouldn’t be hard. But it is. Every manufacturer boasts about the same features—but which product is ultimately best for your household and lifestyle? If you’re looking for something that looks futuristic, the Glas Smart Thermostat is a great first choice. It looks like nothing else on the market and the transparent touchscreen practically disappears when the display is inactive, blending with your walls. It also does the digital thermostat things you’d expect, like keeping schedules and working with an app for programming. And it even has Microsoft Cortana built in, so you can speak to it for changing settings. Plus, Glas has an air quality sensor, something most other smart thermostats lack. Glas can even sense if you’re home or away, so don’t have to...
