Post mac wants to shut down
Glad that the site is still available! A neophyte needs a lot of support and this is the first place I go. To the point...

I keep getting a request to shut down my mac book after 10-15 minutes if I'm not actively using it. I use it mostly at school and for school work so there are periods that I am doing research using other media and then come back..... to shut down and restart would be a nuisance but so is the automated query .... are you sure you want to close all applications and shut down.. &tc. I've tried to reset the energy saver settings but that doesn't help. Any suggestions?

That is really strange. So, in your "Energy Saver" preferences, you don't have a scheduled shut down? Wierd.

Is it possible that you are accidentally hitting the key command for shutting down the computer? Holding down the "control" + "eject" keys will give you that dialog.

Hi Rick, Yeah it is weird! it started to behave that way a couple of weeks ago. It wiil do its trick even when I'm sitting and reading or occupied by something else. Its more annoying than anything. I've reset my energy saver settings to default.. and tried setting it to never sleep whether on charger or battery. Nothing seems to work. Thanks for taking a lookhttp://cherrymug.com/forum/posting. ... f=3&t=108#

Sometimes running Permissions from Disk Utility will solve a problem. Also, you might try a "Safe Boot" by Restarting with the Shift Key down. Sometimes, this will correct a malfunction.
In a pinch, I run Tech Tool Pro from a backup HD (as it will not fix some problems on the Startup Drive).
